Gunner

This is Gunner. He came from the Humane Society. He passed Jan. 2010. He was 18 or 19 yrs. old. He was a full-blooded Shel tie. Many people mistake them for miniature collies. When we first got him, the vet thought he was eight or nine. He lived another nine years. He had arthritis when we got him, deaf the last year of his life. Bowed back. I still miss him.Gunner would not walk with you. He would walk about fifty feet and quit. If you didn't turn around right then, he would lay down and not move. Wouldn't fetch, we would throw a ball, he would look at it, then look at you. He would look back and forth until you went and got it. We were well trained. I really think he was amused by that.  He would play frozen man & lay real still. Frozen man, just lay here by me & we don't move. Keep real still meant, when a movie was on you got to rest your feet on him. When the commercials came on, he moved to rest on top of your feet.Would get mad if you cheated and watched HBO, Showtime, or other premium channels without ads. He would leave and get down on the floor, or go to his blanket.
He and Ginger loved each other. Ginger would jump up on the table, and knock food off the table for him. She would knock food out of her bowl, (we keep it on the dryer up high) down to him. She doesn't do this for Bear, or Two.
